Do-Jang Courtesy
The purpose of this page is to give a clear overview of the responsibilities of each student. As of all things, the means for how one meets these responsibilities can change over time. Therefore, the focus is on the what rather than the how. Each rule is the reflection of the ideals of respect and discipline. No rule supersedes the upholding of these ideals with sincerity and reason.
Responsibilities
Physical Preparation for Practice
- Come in appropriate attire. Clean and ironed uniform for regular practice. Loose fitting clothes for Saturday practice/open mat. No jewelry.
- Keep your nails trimmed. - If you have sparring gear, bring it to every practice. - Be on time. If your are late, enter the room and wait for the instructor to acknowledge you before joining practice. - Know the student creed. Conduct in Practice
- Bow before entering or exiting the Do-Jang.
- Address anyone instructing as Sir or Ma'am. - No swearing or disrespectful language. - If you are a white belt or above, every push-up/stretch is done on your front two knuckles. This does not apply if you have an injury. - If there is a drill with counting, you must count, and you must be loud. - If you use mitts during class, clean the inside with disinfectant spray after class. - You may spar in and out of class only if you are wearing full gear and there is an advance belt watching. - Sign attendance. - Hats should be removed before entering the Do-Jang out of respect. Financial
- Money should never be a reason not to train. If you have a legitimate financial struggle,
talk to an instructor or executive member and it will be taken care of.
- Pay your dues and testing fees in a timely manner.

Miscellaneous
- If you need to miss a practice, send an email before practice with the subject line: 'absence.'
Note that 'missing practice,' 'practice tonight,' and 'absent' are not the same as 'absence.'

- Advanced belts must attend all tests in uniform unless there is a legitimate reason for being absent.
- Advance belts are required to submit a video recording of their curriculum once a semester.
